How do I uninstall BetterSearch?
See your "Tools" menu, pick "Extensions", find BetterSearch in the window that opened, right-click this entry and pick "Uninstall". Using this menu entry will allow you to rid your Firefox from my extension and all related config data. :)
What's with the Amazon IDs in search results and "Site Info" links? Are my search requests tinkered with?
I am an Amazon Associate. Amazon Associates drive internet traffic to Amazon through specially formatted links and earn a small percentage of a sale on all qualifying revenue made through their links.
When you use BetterSearch and click on an Amazon result, you support me and the further development of the extension if you actually purchase a product.
Same thing with the ID in the "Site Info" links. Alexa is sometimes linking Amazon products on their pages, and if people decide to click thru to those products and then actually purchase anything, I'm getting a small percentage of the sale. Not much, tho, and it sure is not the reason why I added the "Site Info" links (I really liked having a one-click access to some more details about a particular site), but since Alexa/Amazon are offering the referral program... heck, why not. :) No harm done, I think.
BetterSearch does not modify the ranking of any search results. It only looks at the search result and inserts additional information. There is no "hidden promotion" involved. The results are not changed in any way, the order is the same, and the search requests are not tinkered with in any way. The only thing that is added to the Amazon search results (in case there are Amazon search results) is my Amazon ID.
